These liners consist of two durable geotextile outer layers, combined with a uniform core of natural sodium bentonite clay. The non-woven geotextile fibers are needle-punched through the layer of bentonite and incorporated into the other geotextile, whether it is woven or non-woven.
When hydrated under a confining load, the bentonite clay swells, forming a low permeability clay layer. This clay layer offers hydraulic protection equivalent to several feet of compacted clay.
